Cooking for two dilemma? SOLVED.

This week has been a bit nuts, between meeting with my July 31st bride, work and grad school, I have had ZERO time on my hands. So you can imagine my excitement when I got an email from Jaclyn Douma (author of "Our First Year") asking me to feature her cookbook on my blog! Score!!

This book was basically written for people like me. I grew up in a family of 10 (8 kids, 2 parents...never a dull moment!) so grocery shopping was almost always done in bulk. And so were recipes and meals. So you can imagine my dismay when I realized that I did not really know how to shop, cook and prepare meals for just two people. I prayed for a book like this, and it found me!

As a newlywed herself, Jaclyn (from Phoenix!!!) knew she wanted to organize a book with helpful tips, party suggestions and many of her favorite recipes for couples who couldn’t necessarily make/afford those “Filet Mignon” recipes in many of the cookbooks given as wedding gifts.   Jaclyn’s dream of providing a useful tool in the kitchen, as well as, passing along recipes of her own on a newlywed budget has finally come true....

Whether you’re a Newlywed or Empty Nester, Our First Year is filled with recipes that are just the right portion for two! From appetizers and desserts to breakfast and dinner, Our First Year provides recipes for two, for left-overs, and for fun filled parties. Not only will you be enjoying savory recipes, Our First Year also provides many helpful hints for those new to the kitchen. Filled with love and many new experiences, Our First Year is the perfect addition to the life of two!

Our First Year is available online at www.a-sugarnspice-life.com .

Thanks for sharing Jaclyn! :) Note to self: pick up this cook book.

Thank you so much for the post...it looks wonderful! Glad I was able to help a bit in your busy busy week. I'm feeling ya. My daughter is now 6 months old and each day is so unpredictable.

Hope you enjoy the rest of your week.

Thanks Jaclyn for choosing MY blog to showcase your book. It is seriously a great idea, and I'm sure many new brides/couples will appreciate what you've come up with!

I have this cook book and I have to say I absolutely love it! It was perfect for me because I was completely clueless in the kitchen when I first got married. Our First Year, showed me that cooking can be fun and easy! Thanks Jaclyn!
