Engagement pictures have become a wonderful outlet for couples to showcase their personalities and share a little of who they are as a couple to friends and families. Props have become almost an expected part of many engagement and wedding shoots. I love how Victoria and John utilized leis, maps and other tropical details for their pictures! Their April 30th wedding plans (we will share an anniversary!) involve the two of them, their families and a trip to Hawaii!
I am so excited for them--and a little jealous even.
Here are some of my favorite engagement shots from their summer shoot:

We picked Charleston, SC for our shoot, bc that's where we met! Locations were 'The Battery' for the big oak trees and it being perfect to lay a blanket down, and the Beach to get that Hawaiian feel of course. Since we are having a destination wedding in Hawaii and Hawaii is such an important part of who we are we wanted to bring Hawaii to Charleston in our engagement shots so that's what we did. We ordered leis from Oahu and had them shipped just for that day :) I made a sign that means With Love in Hawaiian. I used a plumeria clip I got on our trip last year in my hair for the beach portion of the shoot. Then we brought a blanket some maps and books :) so props props props! We found our photog through a friends wedding photos, found out she was only in NC so immediately contacted her and we were in business. It was one of those just looking at a friends photos moment and instantly decided that's who we want.
