A few weekends ago, I worked a wedding where the bride gave her parents the most thoughtful gift I have ever seen. She commissioned a local artist to paint a portrait of their home. This home was the only place the bride had ever lived–all her memories with her family where there. In the lawn, a letter written by the bride was penned in a beautiful gold ink. I was stunned by the creativity and thought that went in to this gift.

When I was speaking to the bride, she put it best when she said: ‘What gift do you give to your parents as thanks for a wedding and lifetime of love and support?’ SO TRUE. One of the MANY things I didn’t do as a bride was leave myself enough time to be thoughtful about what to give my parents and mother-in-law…looking back, I wish I had gone the sentimental route.
